Important Meet Info & Entry List @Tipp 6/10
Swim Families -
Tomorrow we have our first summer meet of the season! I have tried to provide all of the important info below. Please take the time to read through this email and let me know what questions you still have.
1. Entries are in - please check the list and make sure your swimmer is included if you plan to attend (and is not included if you are not attending). Contact me ASAP if there is a missing swimmer. Also, please note that while I tried to fulfill requests from meet sign ups, I did have to make some adjustments due to entry limitations that our league uses. If I changed a swimmers events I will do my absolute best to give them the event they lost at the next meet. Finally, the entries are listed by name. The number on the left is the event number, then a description of the event, and then heat/lane numbers are given - the heat/lane numbers are very likely to change once the entries are pulled together with Tipp - so you can ignore that part for now and we will give updated heat/lane assignments at the meet. Current Entries
2. Meet Details
- Address: 35 Parkwood Dr, Tipp City (each family is responsible for getting their swimmers to and from the meet themselves or setting up a ride)
- Arrive between 5:45 & 6 PM and find our team. Coach Lewis will address the team & parents at about 6:05 and swimmers will get in the pool for warm ups at 6:15. Races will begin at 6:30. Please check in when you arrive - there will be a list hanging on the nearest fence as soon as Coach Lewis arrives. There will be both a list of athletes and a list of workers.
- When you check in, you also should check the heat sheet for final heat/lane assignments (hanging with the check in stuff).
- After warm ups events will be called to the bullpen by number. It is very important that parents, older swimmers, etc. help our swimmers get to the bullpen when their number is called. Once a swimmer arrives in the bullpen, helpers will line the swimmers up so they are ready to race!
- Remember to bring googles, caps (we will have caps available for new swimmers but are waiting on part of the order still), towels, healthy snacks, warm clothes, and activities to pass the time. Evening meets tend to get chilly, so bringing warm clothes to wear between events and dry clothes to ride home in makes the experience more fun! Between events swimmers can socialize, relax, cheer on teammates, and so on as long as they continue to listen for their next event.
- Swimmers & families may leave when they are finished but please double check relay entries so you do not leave a relay hanging. If your family needs to leave before a swimmer is finished please find a coach and let them know so we can try to fix relays.
- HAVE FUN! Summer swim is an opportunity to learn the sport. It should be fun. We will have swimmers mess up, get disqualified, accidentally miss an event, or swim slower than they hoped but we will always find the positive and we hope parents do the same. We honestly love watching them swim.
3. New families - I was searching for a video to give you a feel for how meets work. This video is pretty spot on, though obviously not perfect since this is based off another team. Please don't hesitate to ask questions - that is what summer swim is all about! First Swim Meet - What to Expect Video (*The video discusses heat sheets - we will send out the heat sheet for free via email but how to read the heat sheet is described well.)
This is a ton of information to digest. Please feel free to contact Coach Lewis with any questions you have! I'm so excited to see our swimmers compete!
